An international hospital company is opening a 160 bed world class multi-specialty hospital in Lagos. This will be the first truly world class international hospital in Nigeria. We are looking for the dedicated and experienced managers and administrators to build the systems and structures our hospital will run on. In this role, you’ll guide and manage the overall provision of Human Resource services, policies, and programmes for the hospital in Lagos. The management will look to the successful candidate to ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource compliance requirements, conducting investigations, maintaining records, and representing the hospital as required.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, guidance, support in developing, implementing and reviewing Human Resource and leadership functions
  • Develop an employee-oriented company culture that emphasize quality patient care, continuous improvement, and high performance
  • Implement best practices on employment and other regulatory laws; Nigerian and international
  • Conversion and implementation of policies and procedures for employee safety, wellness and health, and other employee services
  • Coordinate full cycle recruitment and onboarding
  • Maintain hospital staff by establishing a recruiting, testing, and interviewing programme, counseling managers on candidate selection
  • Implement change management for technology adoption and integration with the ATS, HRMS, and onboarding system
  • Implement and document a work structure that meets international standard  for all positions
  • Support the leadership team in continually refining the role within hospital to assist in achieving their operational and strategic goals
  • Coordinate conduction and analyzing of exit interviews and recommending changes
  • Maintain employee benefits programs and inform employees of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; recommending benefit programs to management; directing the processing of benefit claims; obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids; awarding benefit contracts; designing and conducting educational programs on benefit programs
  • Handle employee relations situations as needed
  • Manage worker’s compensation, leave processing and tracking
  • Identify and implement training needs
  • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organization at hearings
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
  • Complete human resource operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results and other team leadership responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Role Requirements

  • Preferred candidate should be between 35-45years old
  • At least 3+ years of experience in HR supervision and management, with direct management responsibilities for 5 or more personnel, local to Lagos region
  • Minimum of University degree in Human Resource or other relevant fields, and/or other recognised professional qualifications
  • Demonstrated comprehensive best practice knowledge in Hiring, Human Resources Management, Benefits Administration, Performance Management, Communication Processes, Compensation and Wage Structure, Supports Diversity, Classifying Employees, Employment Law, Laws against Harassment, and other best practices.
  • Willingness to stay updated on best practices and laws
  • Demonstrated skill and effectiveness in designing scalable processes for higher level management decision making
  • Demonstrated skill in strategic workforce planning and talent management
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high pressure environment
  • Experience in team coordination and ability to contribute to strategic business decisions
  • Greenfield experience: Demonstrated ability in developing efficient startup company processes for HR department especially in fast-paced recruitment is valuable advantage


  • Knowledge of healthcare workflow and terminology desirable
  • Knowledge of hospital operations and the responsibilities of HR
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare setting required
